They have knowledge and experience in assembling of new ship engines and engine room equipment as well as in their repair, overhaul and maintenance.
Every mechanic is also familiar with steel and pipe jobs and is certified for hot work: oxy-acetylene cutting and electric tuck welding.
Some of them are also certified for metal-arc welding with covered electrode (SMAW, 111).
